$15 million seized in South Africa- hard to retrieve
Abubakar Malami, Nigeria's justice minister and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) has revealed why the country has not retrieved its fund stuck in South Africa.
Malami said Nigeria has not been able to retrieve the funds because of some cumbersome processes.
The minister spoke while giving details of the activities of his ministry in the last one year Nigeria is yet to access the $15 million allegedly meant for the purchase of arms and seized by the South African government during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan.
The Nation is reporting that the inability of Nigeria to retrieve the fund is because of ‘diplomatic intricacies and the long processes’.
According to the report, the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, said the same hindrance was behind the government’s inability to repatriate looted funds.
