At least five villagers have been killed and many wounded when Boko Haram terrorists attacked a village in southern part of Borno state yesterday. The terrorist group stormed a remote village of Azur in Damboa local government area at about 8:30 am, shooting sporadically and burning down houses after carting away foodstuffs and livestock. The cult killed a couple – Mr. and Mrs. Adejare – two of their children, while the third kid was said to be in a coma at the Ikorodu General Hospital. A former England striker, John Fashanu, was reportedly held in prison for a two-day period due to his involvement in a land scam. The Mirror UK reported that the ex-football star, who was released on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, made away with a sum of £23,000 after helping a friend secure a land purchase. Eleven-month-old Charlie Gard has died one week to his first birthday after the life support plug was finally pulled. Companies working for Crossrail have been fined £1m for three sets of failures, one of which led to the death of a construction worker. Renè Tkáčik, 44, died when nearly a tonne of wet concrete poured on him. The two other incidents saw a worker injured when a tipper truck crushed his leg, while another man was injured when a high pressure mixture struck him. The companies admitted the health and safety breaches at Southwark Crown Court. The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, passed the Not Too Young To Run bill. The much-anticipated bill, seeks age reduction for elective offices in the country. After an electronic vote, 86 Senators showed their support, while 10 were against it. One lawmaker abstained. This now means Nigerian youths can contest for President at the age of 35 and Governor or Senators at the age of 30. It is a change from the initial 40 and 35 years limit respectively, which was mandated by the constitution. The bill also stipulates that 25-year-old people, can now legislate in the National and State Assemblies across the country. For the bill to, however, take effect, it needs the endorsement of 24 State Assemblies and presidential assent.

14-year-old Miss Obiamaka Orakwue, an indigene of Obosi in Anambra state was on July 10th, raped and murdered at her parents home in the Abule Ado area of Lagos state. According to Anambra state online Facebook page, Obiamaka was at home for the holidays when she met her untimely death. She was at home alone when some Indian Hemp smoking boys who had asked her out and she refused, scaled her family's compound fence and gained access to their apartment. They raped her and left her in the pool of her own blood. Some residents living in the area who saw the boys as they scaled the fence out of the compound, alerted the mother of the deceased who returned home from her workplace immediately. Wildfires in south-eastern France have forced the evacuation of 10,000 people overnight, officials say.      Hundreds of firefighters have been deployed to battle the fires near Bormes-les-Mimoses, in the country's Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. France earlier asked its EU neighbours for more help fighting the fires. Some 4,000 hectares (15.4 sq miles) of land have burned along the Mediterranean coast, in the mountainous interior and on the island of Corsica. "The evacuations, at least 10,000, followed the progression of the fire," a fire official was quoted as saying by the AFP news agency. "It's an area that doubles or triples its population in summer," the official added. One of the worst fires is raging in an area near the popular resort of Saint-Tropez. In Corsica, hundreds of homes have been evacuated.
